All within a short 30 minute ride from Boston’s Bunker Hill (Zakim) suspension bridge. Sunrise flights are scheduled seven days a week, weather permitting.

At the conclusion of our flights we will transport you to our picnic site and invite you to sit down, relax and sip champagne mimosas as we prepare a delicious complimentary picnic. Frequently Asked Questions
WHO CAN FLY?

Anyone who is looking for a truly remarkable experience with a memory that will last a lifetime. We suggest that passengers be in good health and be capable of standing for the duration of the flight. If you feel that your health is in question please consult your doctor before scheduling your flight. Please review our Cancellation Policies to be sure that your flight comes off without a hitch. Our two oldest passengers, shown in the photos above were fulfilling a lifelong dream to fly in a hot air balloon. Mildred was amazing and as sharp as a tack at 97 years young. Charlie was incredible and celebrating his 100th birthday with us. It was a real honor having them on board. We suggest that children be six years of age or older to fly safely with us. Ballooning is the safest form of aviation in the world but there is always a risk of a hard landing. Passengers must be willing and able to handle such a landing. Since most of our passengers fly with us as a couple we ask that their total combined body not exceed 400 lbs. For two passengers exceeding that weight limit a surcharge may be imposed.  Please review a copy of our “Release of liability and assumption of risk agreement” and our “What you should know letter”. Every passenger is required to sign a release form before flight.

HOW LONG IS THE FLIGHT?

Flight times can vary based on weather conditions and landing sites but usually lasts about an hour. From the time you arrive until the time you are returned to your vehicles allow yourself three hours.

CAN I HELP?

Yes you may! Passengers will often help in both the set up and pack up of the Balloon. It enhances your appreciation of the balloon system and involves you in the entire experience. If not, sit back and watch our experienced crew as they set up this gentle giant.

LAUNCH SITES?

It may be from our own field or from one of our optional launch sites nearby. The direction of the wind on the day of your flight will determine which site is most appropriate.

LANDING SITES?

Although they don’t have steering wheels, we can use changes in wind direction that can vary with altitude to maneuver the balloon to a preferred site. Typically someone’s back yard or field.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Please dress to suit the weather on the day of your flight. Launch sites can be wet with the early morning dew. Therefore, we suggest long pants and water-resistant footwear (please no open toed shoes or sandals). The temperature aloft is no colder than that on the ground. In fact, it can be more comfortable since we are traveling with the wind. It’s also a good idea to bring sunglasses and a brimmed hat, like a baseball cap.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

Tickets, coupons or gift certificates if the flight was a gift or purchased in advance, and of course your cameras and video recorders to bring the memories home.

HOW DO WE GET BACK?

Our chase crew, custom-outfitted vehicle and trailer will follow us throughout the flight. They will meet us when we land and stow the balloon in the trailer, ready for the next flight. After your flight we will transport you to our picnic area where you will be treated to a champagne celebration and a delicious complimentary picnic. It’s a great way to wind down after your awesome flying adventure. Then it’s back to your vehicles and on your way home.
About High Five

O1 Our Pilotur pilot Tony Sica has been an FAA certified hot air balloon pilot since 1999. His love for the sport started 20 years ago in 1995 when he chased down a balloon that floated over his home in Derry NH. His children were so excited that he put them into the car and followed the balloon to its landing site. The pilot of the balloon was kind enough to put the children into the basket and floated them across the field to the site where the balloon was taken down. They never forgot that and neither did Tony. To this day if conditions at his landing sites will allow and there are any children present he will offer to put them into the basket for their own little mini flight. One that they will hopefully never forget. Since the company started in 1999 Tony has hosted passengers from every continent on earth. From small children to grandparents he has passed on his love of ballooning to thousands of passengers seeking the awesome experience of soaring with the wind in a hot air balloon. He invites you to share in this remarkable experience.

Our Balloons are manufactured by Cameron Balloons USA. This company produces the finest balloon systems in the world. It is a federally registered aircraft and inspected annually or every 100 hours of flight time, whichever comes first. Our balloon envelopes are appropriately named Smile High and Horizon High. Our large balloon, Smile High, balloon has enough lifting power to carry up to 1300 lbs. of passenger weight on an average New England day. Horizon High is used for flights with a total passenger weight of less than 800 pounds. The baskets have two burners (engines) as well as independent fuel systems with quick shut off valves for maximum safety and redundancy.

They stand between 75 and 83 feet tall, and are up to 70 feet in diameter. The balloon envelopes are constructed from more than 1000 square yards of rip stop nylon fabric, 1/2 mile of reinforcing nylon webbing and over 3 miles of thread.

The balloon envelopes weigh 260 and 420 pounds respectively and the baskets with full fuel tanks, weighs up to 600 pounds.

The burners are fueled by liquid propane and can produce up to 30 Million BTU’s of heat when both burners are ignited.

Once inflated, the balloons, the air inside and their cargo will weigh in excess of 2 tons.

Our balloons systems are meticulously maintained to assure our passengers a safe ride experience as well as a beautiful one.
